About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Solar Electrician to join a well-established and growing renewable energy contractor based in Newton Abbot.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, testing and commissioning Solar PV systems, battery storage systems and EV chargers across premium domestic properties, bespoke developments and occasional new-build housing projects throughout the South West.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrician who takes pride in the quality and appearance of their work and is confident dealing directly with homeowners, builders and other trades.

Requirements:

Install, test and commission Solar PV systems.
Install and commission battery storage systems, including Tesla Powerwall, Fox ESS and comparable products.
Install and commission EV charging points.
Wire inverters, batteries, isolators and associated AC and DC components.
Configure monitoring platforms and ensure systems are operating correctly.
Complete electrical inspection, testing and certification.
Diagnose faults and carry out remedial work on existing installations.
Provide clear customer demonstrations and professional system handovers.
Complete project documentation accurately using the company’s digital systems.
Work respectfully within completed, occupied or partially occupied properties.
Protect finished areas and leave each installation clean, tidy and professionally presented.
Maintain excellent standards of health and safety, housekeeping and workmanship.
Work independently when required and collaboratively with roofing, solar and project teams.
Travel to projects throughout the South West as required.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
AM2 assessment.
Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification, or equivalent.
Proven experience installing and commissioning Solar PV systems.
Practical experience installing battery storage systems.
Strong knowledge of inverters, batteries and associated AC and DC equipment.
Competent in electrical testing, certification, commissioning and fault-finding.
Confident completing customer demonstrations and system handovers.
Full UK driving licence is essential.
Valid ECS or CSCS Card.
Tesla Powerwall installation or commissioning experience would be advantageous.
Fox ESS installation or commissioning experience would be advantageous.
Recognised Solar PV installation qualification would be beneficial.
Electrical Energy Storage Systems qualification would be beneficial.
EV charge-point installation qualification would be beneficial.
Experience working in premium domestic properties or bespoke developments.
Experience working on new-build housing projects.
