About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established roofing and construction company based near Newton Abbot. The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a range of flat roofing, metal sheeting and cladding projects from pre-construction and mobilisation through to completion and handover.

You will work closely with the wider commercial, design and operational teams to ensure projects are properly planned, delivered safely, completed to the required standard and managed commercially.

Requirements:

Plan, manage and deliver multiple roofing and cladding projects.
Manage projects from pre-start and mobilisation through to completion and handover.
Review drawings, specifications, programmes and scopes of work.
Identify project risks, design queries, labour requirements and procurement needs.
Manage and support site supervisors, subcontractors and the wider site workforce.
Coordinate labour, materials, plant, subcontractors and site deliveries.
Monitor project programmes, costs, quality standards and agreed budgets.
Build strong working relationships with clients, site teams and project stakeholders.
Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and manufacturers’ guidance.
Manage inspections, defects, snagging and project handovers.
Ensure appropriate RAMS, toolbox talks, permits and site records are completed.
Work with the commercial team to manage applications, variations and contractual notices.
Maintain accurate records of progress, delays, instructions and site issues.
Identify and escalate health and safety, quality, programme and commercial risks.
Support the successful delivery of projects safely, on time and within budget.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

Previous experience managing construction contracts, projects or site operations.
Experience within roofing, cladding or the building-envelope sector is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of metal sheeting, cladding, standing seam or single-ply roofing systems would be advantageous.
Strong planning, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Able to manage several live projects and changing priorities.
Good commercial awareness and experience managing labour, materials, subcontractors and project costs.
Able to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and programmes.
Good knowledge of construction health and safety, including RAMS and working at height.
Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with clients, site teams and senior management.
Competent using digital reporting systems, Microsoft Office and email.
Full UK driving licence.
Relevant construction management, roofing or health and safety qualifications are desirable.
SMSTS and an appropriate CSCS Card would be advantageous, although training may be considered for the right candidate.
