About the Role:

 

We are looking for an experienced Office / Payroll Administrator to join a well-established and highly respected construction contractor based in Torquay.

The business has a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality projects across Devon and the surrounding areas, working across residential, commercial, education, heritage and refurbishment schemes.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for a proactive, organised and detail-focused individual to support the smooth running of the office, with particular responsibility for payroll, subcontractor payments and general administration.

Requirements:

 

  • Process weekly and/or monthly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Process payments for employees and subcontractors.
  • Maintain accurate employee and subcontractor records.
  • Support the administration of CIS payments and deductions.
  • Ensure payroll information is compliant with HMRC requirements.
  • Manage general day-to-day office administration.
  • Respond to emails, telephone enquiries and general correspondence.
  • Maintain filing systems and accurate company records.
  • Support with invoicing, purchase orders and general accounts administration.
  • Liaise with site managers, employees, subcontractors and external suppliers.
  • Assist with supplier invoices and payment processing.
  • Order office supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Maintain accurate spreadsheets and internal records.
  • Support the wider management and accounts team as required.
  • Handle confidential payroll and employee information professionally.
  • Prioritise workload effectively and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

 

Desirable Skills and Experience:

 

  • Previous experience within an office administration, payroll or accounts-based position.
  • Previous payroll processing experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working within the construction industry would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  • Experience processing subcontractor payments.
  • Experience using Sage, Xero or similar accounting/payroll software.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong numerical and administrative skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicating with employees, subcontractors, suppliers and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Professional and discreet when handling confidential information.
  • Reliable, proactive and comfortable working independently when required.

  • Salary of £27,000 – £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
